Karting
At the age of 8, Charles Leclerc started his karting career. In 2005, 2006, and 2008, he won the PACA Championship. He returned to the KF3 class in 2011, taking first place in the FIA KF3 World Cup, FIA Karting Academy, and ERDF Junior Kart Masters.

De Vries announced in February 2016 that Leclerc would compete in the GP3 season. Leclerc was signed by ART the following week. In his first season in the series, he won three matches with the group and won the championship.
Formula 2
For the 2017 season, Charles Leclerc graduated to the Formula 2 competition with Prema Racing. Charles Leclerc achieved 7 victories and 3 podium finishes while competing in Formula 2. Due to a suspension issue, he was forced to retire at his home Grand Prix. He was forced to retire from the feature race after colliding with Norman Nato.
