Lance Stroll is one of the hottest sensations on the Formula 1 grid, Stroll was introduced by Williams not long after turning 18 – before he even finished his high school and obtained his driver’s license. Lance is half Canadian half Belgian driving under Canadian flag. Lance was born in Montreal, Canada on 29th October 1998. He stands 6ft tall. Junior Racing Career
Lance had a successful Karting career, starting at the age of 10. He won Coupe de Montreal and Coupe de Quebec in both 2008 and 2009. He also won Canadian National Championship in 2008 and 2010 but finished second in 2009. In 2010, Stroll won Florida Winter Tour and finished second in Coupe de Quebec. In 2011, he finished 18th in Italian Championship – KF3, 11th in German Karting Championship and P3 in Trofeo Grifone — KF3.
In 2012, with Chiesa Corse, Lance won SKUSA SuperNationals — TaG Junior and finshed second in Trofeo Andrea Margutti — KF3. His final year in karting, 2013, was not a successful year as his best finish was P5 in WSK Super Master Series — KF.
Italian F4 Championship
In 2014, Lance Stroll won Italian F4 Championship with Prema Powerteam. Clinching five poles, he managed to win seven races and six podiums. He finished the season with 331 points.
Toyota Racing Series
In 2015, Lance won Toyota Racing Series with M2 Competition by scoring astonishing 906 points. In this season, he won four races of sixteen, two of which at Mike Pero Motorsports Park. He also got six podiums.
Formula 3 European Championship
In 2015, with Prema Powerteam and Mercedes engine, Lance finished P5 in his inaugural season in F3. He races against his future Formula 1 competitors Antonio Giovinazzi, Charles Leclerc, George Russell and Alexander Albon,. Stroll was able to finish within points in almost all races in the season. His best finish was at Hockenheimring, Germany, where he won both feature race and main race. In this season, he won only one race and scored five podiums. He also got a DNQ at Monza.
2016 was very much Lance’s year in F3. He won the Formula 3 Championship with 507 points. He started his campaign with a win at Paul Ricard. Overall, he won a massive of fourteen races and got six podiums. We can say that Lance dominated 2016 in F3. In the final nine races of the season, he won seven of them and podiums in two of them.
Macau Grand Prix
In 2015, with Prema Powerteam and Dallara car, Lance qualified at 10th. Int qualification races he finished 13th and 8th in the main race.
Formula 1 career
Williams (2017 - 2018)
2017, Lance Stroll didn’t get the Formula 1 start that he wanted. He ended up retiring in the first three races of the season due to gearbox issues and crashes with Perez and Carlos Sainz respectively and couldn’t score a single point in next three races either. At his home Grand Prix, he scored his first F1 points as he finished ninth. Stroll redeemed himself at Azerbaijan GP by finishing on third after being overtaken by Valtteri Bottas just inches before finish line, also his first Formula 1 podium.
Stroll started the Mexican Grand Prix from eleventh on the grid and advanced to sixth place in the race. For the first time that season, this outcome put him ahead of teammate Felipe Massa in the Drivers’ Championship. With 40 of the team’s 83 points, Stroll finished the season in P12 in the Drivers’ Championship.
2018, Stroll sticked with Williams for 2018, reportedly, Williams was the slowest car on the grid that season. Eventually, finishing last in the Constructors’ Championship. He finished outside of points in all races except Azerbaijan GP (P8) and Italian GP (P9).
Stroll finished eighteenth in the Drivers’ Championship, scoring six of the team’s seven points.
Racing Point (2019 - 2020)
2019, Lance stroll dad, Lawrence Stroll bought and renamed the Racing Point Formula 1 team. Esteban Ocon was replaced by Stroll to drive alongside Sergio Perez in the pink car. He scored points for the new team at the season opener – Australian GP by finishing ninth. His best finish was P4 at German GP.
With 21 points, Stroll finished his debut year with Racing Point at P15 in the Drivers’ Championship, trailing teammate Perez, who had 52 points. At 18 of the 21 races this season, he was outqualified by Perez.
2020, both Stroll and Perez were retained. Due to covid-19, the season was reduced to seventeen races. Lance Stroll retired at the season opener but went on a seven race point scoring streak from Styrian GP to Italian GP, this included his second Formula 1 podium at Monza. But then came a streak of four retirements in a row. Stroll took his first F1 pole at Turkish GP in wet conditions, but finished at ninth due to tyre issues. His third podium was at Sakhir GP.
Stroll ended at P11 in the Drivers’ Championship, scoring 75 of the team’s 210 points.
Aston Martin (2021 - present)
2021, Racing Point was renamed again, this time as Aston Martin. With the non-competent Aston Martin, Stroll finished at tenth in the season opener at Bahrain followed by eight place finish at Emilia-Romagna. He was unable to gain a single podium throughout the season and his best finish was P6 at Qatar GP.
He finished his campaign at P13 with 34 points outqualified by teammate Vettel’s 43 points.
2022, both Stroll and Vettel were retained by Aston Martin in 2022. With failing to score points in first three races of the season, he scored points in eight of twenty-two races, of which six were P10 finishes. His best finish was at season finale at Abu Dhabi where he finished P6.
He wrapped up his season at P15 with 18 points only.
2023, Stroll is expected to stay with Aston Martin through 2023 and will race alongside Fernando Alonso, who will take the role of Sebastian Vettel as he retires.
24 Hours of Daytona
In 2016, with Ford Chip Ganassi Racing, he finished at P5 as class position after running 725 laps.
In 2017, with Jackie Chan DCR Jota, his class position was P11 after running 777 laps.
